I started a YouTube Channel!
In March of 2020, I decided that working full-time for a corporation that relies heavily on volatile oil prices for the rest of my life was not in my best interest. My whole life I’ve enjoyed the outdoors more than anything, for interacting with nature is in fact the most natural thing we can do as humans. Disc golf has been the platform that has allowed me to spend more time not only outdoors, but more quality time with my family.
COVID-19 was the catlyst that had me reassess what I was going to do for the rest of my life. I just turned 30 in September and wanted to start directing more of my time towards something I truly enjoy. A local pizzeria was hiring delivery drivers and I jumped on the opportunity to work a more flexible job that pays enough to work part-time and still pay the bills. With the support of my wife and her pushing me to pursue my dream, I quit that full-time job and started slinging pizzas 3 days a week!
The Western New York disc golf community has given me so much joy over the past 5+ years that I decided it was time for me to give back. I want to dedicate more of my time volunteering to improve courses and direct tournaments/leagues, and thanks to the Western New York Disc Golf Club (WNYDGC) 2021 will be full of opportunities for me to do just that. I just became a certified official and I am lined up to be a tournament director for a number of events and a league!
At the same time, I want to dedicate more time to improving my game and compete at a professional level; a weekend warrior if you will. I figured there’s a lot of people out there going through a similar situation and are trying to improve their game, so why not start a YouTube channel and learn along with the disc golf community?!
It’s going to be a long road and it will take some serious dedication to play at such a high level. I plan on documenting and capturing as much of the learning process as I can to share what works and doesn’t work with everyone. I’ll definitely have plenty of competitive videos between two generations of brothers since I play most of my rounds with my brother Dylan, my father Jerry, and his brother Rick. My first YouTube video is now live so be sure to check it out and subscribe to follow along on my journey!
